What is a Computer Fair? Suppose
you got a large group of small computer businesses to pool their
marketing resources and come together in public halls to sell computer
goods direct to the public.
Suppose you also went on the road with such a group bringing a wide range of computer related goods and services to Towns and cities. In effect you would have the best of both worlds - thousands of different products for sale under the one roof by dozens of small independent
enthusiastic businesses. This a computer fair.
Benefits The main purpose of computer fairs is to offer the public the chance to meet the experts/enthusiasts and pick up information and advice on all aspects of computing. The computer fairs also offer the chance to shop around compare prices and haggle on a wide variety of products from a large number of traders all under one roof. We like to think of the
fairs as being much more than a computer superstore: more products more bargains more information more variety and friendlier!.
Concept of a Computer Fair
For those who are
unfamiliar with the concept each computer fair is a cross between a
mobile computer superstore and an indoor market or cash and carry trade
exhibition. The participants are mainly small businesses who by pooling
their resources can promote themselves to large numbers of computer
shoppers in a variety of different geographical areas:-
Aberdeen,
Dundee
and Glenrothes
Who are the Traders?
Many small businesses or
traders participating in the fairs reach a much wider potential customer
base than otherwise possible and without incurring the substantial fees
charged by the major exhibitions.
Many computer related businesses use the fairs because of their Cash
and carry nature to convert surplus or excess stocks into cash giving
customers huge discounts and at the same time to clear out excess slow
moving or superseded stock at attractive prices without the expense
that often goes with a warehouse sale.
Each fair carries a mix of products and services hardware and software
- as the organizers we encourage as broad a range as possible. User
Groups also participate on a regular basis.
The Public
As usual there is a wide mix of the general public who attend computer fairs.
Many are enthusiasts from user groups and there are quite a few regulars
who we see at almost every market and then there are the new users the
families and novices - all of whom come along in search of information - bargains and advice. Local Industry
We strongly believe that at
each locality in which we conduct these fairs it is important to involve
the local computer industry - local traders have the best chance of
winning business from local people - and so we reserve a number of sites
for local businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to promote
themselves to local enthusiasts at a particular computer fair.
